It's the year 2016, and scientists have become more and more interested in research of the arctic. However, you can't just fly a plane or take a boat out there, and it's not exactly your typical island resort. People have made the trips before, but not all of them made it back alive. Out there, one would have to account for the bitter cold and freezing temperatures, as well as ice and wildlife. However, a massive and well known science group known as Teco (pronounced "teeko"), decided to conduct an experiment. They gathered a bunch of people, and built a small town in Antarctica called "Rune Valley". Their goal was to have these people live here, and see how they adapt and react to different things. For everyone's safety, Teco never planned on keeping them there for too long. Unfortunately though, a new and unwanted aspect fell into play.

After about a month, a severe illness began sweeping through Teco's workers. That illness spread into Rune Valley, and people began to perish from it. Neither the scientists or the doctors could identify what the disease was, and that led to lots of questions. Despite efforts, nothing has worked in trying to cure people of it, and the body count was creeping up. Now Teco no longer has to worry about their original studies, but how to keep the healthy safe. To make things worse, Teco mainly specializes in environmental stuff, not medical related things. So now it's a battle of survival, and the cold is the least of everyone's concerns. And out here in Antarctica, help is thousands of miles away.
